GOOD MEN

Hey Friends,
I know it’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared anything yummy with you. Trust me I’ve been doing my research. I’ve been hitting the clubs trying new drinks and enjoying conversation with a number of knowledgeable people.
Let’s talk about the Good Guys,
Too often women when, in groups of two or more inevitably begin conversations that start with WHERE ARE ALL OF THE MEN??!..
Now, if you’re an African American Woman usually you preference that statement with WHERE ARE ALL OF THE GOOD BLACK MEN. Although African American women do date outside of their race usually there is always a longing to be with a man that you have a little more in common with. But since I’m fortunate to have friends from all nationalities we will go with the first statement.
Let’s talk about the Good Men. I know a few. Unfortunately the ones I know are either married or we make better friends then anything else.
There are good men out there ladies. Really!

The good men may not be in the packages that fairy tails have lead us to believe . Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying to settle for just anyone, but keep an open mind. Your Prince charming may be wrapped in a bigger or smaller package or in a different color wrapper. But once you open it you will be pleasantly surprised.
Trust me as I’m sharing with you I’m also learning.

Think of men like you used to think of Christmas Gifts when you where a kid. At first you would run to the tree and look for the biggest Box under the tree but then you realized that grandma would always give you $50 or more in an envelope. The gift in the big box would usually break by the end of the week but you enjoyed that $50 for a long time and got exactly what you wanted..

Hope this helps Ladies.
Please share your thoughts, Guy's you too

My Favorite Beer - Hogarden

The key to Hoegaarden’s unique, refreshing flavor and spicy nose is real CuraƧao orange peel with a hint of coriander.
Ingredients/Brewing:

Hoegaarden is brewed using natural ingredients – mineral spring water, unmalted wheat, barley malt, hops, yeast, coriander and CuraƧao orange peel. Hoegaarden is unfiltered, giving the beer a soft body, cloudy white appearance and thick, frothy head. Hoegaarden is 4.9 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

How to Serve:
This beer is particularly refreshing in warmer months and always should be served in its signature hexagonal glass, which keeps the beer colder longer. Try pairing Hoegaarden with salmon or white-fleshed fish in citrus. The classic Belgian-inspired “moules et frites” (mussels with shoestring fries) also pair well with the beer.

Interesting Facts:
Brewing has been an integral part of life in the village of Hoegaarden, Belgium, since 1318. By the 15th century, Begarden monks settled in the area and began brewing Belgian white (or wit) ales. By the end of the 19th century, the village boasted more than 35 breweries, although it was inhabited by only 2,000 people. Hoegaarden Witbier – biere blanche, the original Belgian White Beer, is renowned in Belgium and all over the world.

Hoegaarden is imported and distributed in the United States by Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

Ok, so try one and let me know if you like it as much as I do

When A Mother Loves Her Son

When a Mother loves her son she will move heaven and earth to see him happy and safe.
She will work a job that she absolutely hates just so he never feels like there is ever something or someone missing.

When a Mother loves her son she will count to 10 before she beat’s his 13 year old ass for moving her car when he should have been cleaning it.

When a Mother loves her son she will become the father that her son will never have.

When a Mother loves her son she will stay up an extra 5 hours after working the graveyard shift to watch the “Little Bill” DVD 4 times.

When a Mother loves her son she will forget what her name used to be and usually recognize Mommy or Ma!

When a Mother loves her son she will NOT! deal with the bull shit of a grown ass man

When a mother loves her son she will carry all of his little burdens on her shoulders so that he never has to feel a thing.

When a Mother Loves Her Son….

Who Is Erik Rico??????

He is only one of the many unappreciated talents of our decade.
He is writer, producer, DJ, and a musician who plays multiple instruments. This man is a true artist in every sense of the word. Eric has written for the likes of
Talib Kwali, Qtip, Tupac Shakur, just to name a few. Believe me his discography would fill up this whole site..lol
The voice of Erik Rico reminds you of the legendary Stevie Wonder with an added electro soulful funk. His songs take you on a lyrical journey where you just want to close your eyes and enjoy the ride.
Eric’s most current album entitled “THE REWORKS’S PROJECT” is a collaboration of remakes that brings some of our favorite R n B classics into a new light. Erik Rico does a fantastic rendition of Sade’s “Sweetest Taboo” entitled “ Sade vs Erick Rico” (take a listen, I promise you wont be disappointed).

411 on Erik Rico
His Debut album “Journey Back To Me” was a hit all over Europe and Australia (the U.S. is always behind on good music, you know I’m telling the truth. ☺) my favorite song on that record is LET’S LAY TOGETHER.. (awesome song).
Erik’s sophmore album was also an eclectic sound. I love all of the songs on that one as well, but if I have to pick one I would say “Today” and “Peace of Mind Pt.2” (I know that’s two , but this is my blog ..LMAO).
In addtion to being the creative genius behind the music Erik Rico is also at the head a his record label, “Life Notes Music” (http://www.lifenotesmusic.com/home.html).
Stay tuned, I will be interviewing Erik soon and he will share his upcoming performances around the globe along with his secrets on how he makes the colorful music that he shares with us. If you can't wait until then Erik is REALLY GOOD at updating his myspace so check him out there. http://www.myspace.com/erikricomusic

Lemon Drop Martini

This weeks MUST try drink is a favorite amongst many of my friends.
It’s called a Lemon Drop Martini, it’s not as tart as lemonade but when mixed correctly the lemony mix with the rimed sugar cocktail glass (optional for men) makes this drink absolutely delightful. This drink can be enjoyed year round but I particularly enjoy it in the spring and summer months or when I’m in a warmer climate where I can drink it out doors. But that’s just me…
So this week make sure to try one of these and let me know how you like it.
Here is the Vegas Lemon Drop Recipe $$$
1 1/2 oz Absolut® Citron vodka
1 tsp sugar
1/4 lemon

Slice the 1/4 lemon into two seperate wedges. Place in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Pour the Absolut Citron into the shaker, and add one teaspoon of sugar. Shake vigorously. Strain into a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, and serve.

Angelique Kidjo

I was looking forward to Angelique Kidjo’s February 9th Album Release "OYO"
But it seems that she has pushed it back to add a collaboration with a yet unknown artist. So now I have to wait until April .
If your not familiar with Angelique Kidjo I’ll give you the quick run down.
Angelique Kidjo
Born in Benin (West Africa), Angelique Kidjo is a Grammy award-winning music recording artist deemed "Africa's premier diva" by Time Magazine. Kidjo's internationally acclaimed repertoire includes collaborations with various recording artists such as Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, Branford Marsalis, Joss Stone, and many more. Known for her dynamic and uplifting music, she has translated her distinctive work in the arts to that of philanthropy; by promoting education for girls in Africa through her foundation, Batonga and as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador Kidjo travels the world to inspire and empower.

Regardless of your nationality, once you here the voice of Angelique Kidjo she will bring you back to the mother land.

If you don't believe me visit her website and listen for your self.

Luxury of Cognac

There is nothing better than enjoying a smooth cognac with Cuban cigar. The warm sting on your lips makes the taste of the cigar linger long enough make you want to lick your lips and do it again. Aged cognac makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
Since I know that you are ALL millionaire’s in the making I want to introduce you to a cognac in the Courvoisier family L’Esprit de Courvoisier.
L’Esprit is one of the rarest cognacs in the world. This blend of Cognacs is mixed with ancient blends that date back to the Napoleonic era. The only way to have this cognac is neat. In case you were wondering this serves in NYC for $500 per glass and the bottle retails for about $5000 dollars.
So you have to promise me that as soon as you have officially arrived!
You get someone else to buy you a bottle….LMAO…..(WINK)

Feeling Like Some Funk with DJ Jeff Brown

We will be talking to DJ Jeff Brown in the future but for now Let me give you a taste

Congratulations To The Saint's

I won’t even pretend to act like I’m a huge sports fanatic. What I do know is last nights Super Bowl (Colts vs. Saints) was bigger then a game for the Saints. The city of New Orleans has suffered so much since Katrina, last nights win represents hope and proof that they will not be defeated.
Congratulations New Orleans!!!!

Jaheim

The first thing I have to say about him is I love the new look. Very Grown and Sexy. There is something about a man in tailored clothes that says a lot for his growth (yes I am aware that it’s the stylist doing..lol).
I’ve been listening to this new album “Another Round”and I must say I like it. He is consistent in the mood that he keeps you in. He is that ghetto lover that doesn’t look like the ghetto (anymore). His story telling makes every song a mini soap opera with out the R.Kelly dramatics. My favorites on this Album are “Her”, “In My Hands”, and “Aint Leavin without You Remix”. The entire Album was really good you can put this one in and not skip a song.
Good Luck to Jaheim on this one. Let me know your thoughts.

Online Dating???

OK, so it’s clear that the dating scene has changed drastically within the past decade.

So I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve tried the online dating scene. Since know one is paying me for advertising I will leave out the name of the site that I’m tried…lol But if you really want to know send me an email and I’ll let you know.

Ok, so I’m on this site and my intentions are to seriously look at these men, read their profile and shoot them an email. But I just can’t get past the photos that people post on these sites. LOL.. The funniest to me are the guys doing sexy poses in the bathroom mirror with the camera phone…

Now I am far from shallow so when I tell you I really tried to take these men seriously I really did, but it became a joke to me and I just turned the whole experience into a comedy. I have so many friends that this has worked for but it doesn’t seem to work for me.

Now guys I can only imagine what your photos must look like. Please share and let us know what you think about the ladies display.

How do you guys feel about online dating and are there any really good sites out there? Do you think it's easier for White people to date online than Black people?
